Schubert Serenade

This serenade was published after Schubert's death. This is the last thing Schubert wrote. This is a story about a man who is looking for love. and cannot win love. And WE feel a tone of hope, then melancholy. Two themes are constantly changing places, I hope that my collage on this music will help to understand the music of the great man.

At last! A version which contains the additional "Scwencken" measure/bar, so I can whistle the whole of Gounod's "Ave Marie" melody over the top without having to make any adjustment! The printed Bach version is 35 bars/measures. The Gounod version requires 36, which this recording has. Unusual. Rare. But very welcome 🥳
